October Movies

Okay, the October listing for Cinema La Placita is up. Movies this month are: The Birds, Mad Love, The Haunting, and It lives Again. And of course, this is the last month for the series this year so make sure to get down to see a few of them.

If you go, please realize that it does cost money to show these movies and the folks at Cinema La Placita can do it only through your donations and sponsorships. They get no money from the city, from grants, or anywhere but our donations; make sure to cough up a fiver per person to keep the series going.

Zero at the Bone

Just a quick update: A new Read All About is up in place. This months installment is a real local book: Zero at the Bone, by Erec Toso. Erec is a writing professor here at the UofA who happened to have been bitten by a rattlesnake. This is his story of the bite, the recovery, and his interaction with the natural world. It is highly recommended. To read an excerpt, just head on over to the Local Couple's site (you'll find a link on the right).

Well, the September movies for Cinema La Placita have been selected and the schedule is up at the Local Couple's site: just click on the title of this rambling.

Once again, we are sponsoring a movie this year, with the showing of Paint Your Wagon. If you stop on by on the 20th, you'll have the chance to see Clint Eastwood sing. Not exactly your typical Eastwood fare. But, entertaining nonetheless and I'm sure we'll see you there!
